Q: What is a sports injury?

A: At Energy Sports Medicine & Wellness Centre, a sport injury includes all musculoskeletal, orthopaedic injuries or medical problems that are affecting a person's ability to participate in a sport or activity. Although the injury does not have to be suffered during a sport, often it is preventing an individual from daily activities, whether it is walking up stairs or playing an elite sport.

Q: Who can come to our clinic?

A: Anyone who has a musculoskeletal or orthopaedic injury that is preventing them from daily activities, recreational exercise, or sports events can receive treatment at our clinic. We have an extensive list of rehabilitation practices available here to help get you back to your activities. We do not require a physician's prescription for you to see one of our many practitioners, however, your insurance company may require one for reimbursement. So please contact them for details on your specific policy. We DO NOT see motor vehicle accidents or WSIB cases, unless for custom bracing.

Q: How long is the waiting period?

A: The waiting period differs depending on the season and what health care practitioner you would like to see. Generally, we can provide you with an appointment within a week of you contacting us.

Q: Are services covered by OHIP?

A: We are a private clinic for all services, meaning there is a fee for the service. Many extended healthcare plans will assist in these payments. We recommend you call your insurance company prior to contacting us so you know what is covered and for how much you are covered.

Q: Does Energy Sports Medicine & Wellness Centre directly bill to insurance companies?

A: Yes, we offer direct billing for participating insurance companies. We will send you an electronic form to get your insurance information and we should be able to quickly tell you if your company offers direct billing.

Q: What should I wear and/or bring to an appointment?

A: We recommend you wear appropriate clothing to expose the area being assessed for all appointments. We have change rooms on-site for your convenience. If you have any relevant information that may help your treating practitioner, such as a physician prescription or diagnostic imaging results (xrays, unreasoning, mri, etc), please bring them to your assessment.

Q: Do you sell gift certificates?

A: Gift certificates for Registered Massage Therapists are a wonderful idea! We are able to sell gift certificates for such services as Registered Massage Therapy. Please contact the clinic and we can arrange for you to purchase one.
